Striped Jumpsuit for Spring
There is nothing I love more than a good jumpsuit. They’re so chic and easy to wear. This striped jumpsuit from J Crew was absolutely calling my name when I first saw it. Being a petite lady, I had to get it hemmed, but it was an easy tweak that was well worth it. That leads me to my tip for this look–don’t let a little tweak stand in the way of you and a perfect outfit.
This little number is the perfect outfit to lead me into summer. However, as much as I loved it on the mannequin, I wasn’t sold immediately when I put it on in the dressing room. Here are my tips for finding (and making) your perfect fit.
A Little Rosy Touch
First off, no matter what the fit, you can always add a little rosy touch to an outfit by tossing on a few touches of pink. (Because when does an outfit not need pink?!) To me, these adorable earrings and pink sunglasses scream spring and definitely fit with my rose theme of the month. And, of course, my rose colored purse absolutely comes along to pick up a cupcake!
Be Sweet To Yourself
Now back to finding your fit… A lot of times when I try in clothes that don’t fit just so, my first thought is to think the problem is me. Not in a big, beat-myself-up kind of way… I’m just more likely to think “eesh, I need to get back to running” before I’m to think “they really screwed up the cut on this top.” Lately, however, I’ve been very conscious of turning a blind eye to the number on the tag and instead solely focusing on what’s comfortable and the very best fit.
What’s On The Rack Is Not Final
Like I said, when I tried on this striped jumpsuit, it was not love at first sight. I sent a picture to my mom, and she said it looked like a P.E. uniform from the 1900s just to give you an idea of what we were dealing with. That, however, did not stop me! With a simple (and cheap!) alteration, the striped jumpsuit transformed from a weird nurses uniform to a stylish option for spring and summer.
The Moral Of The Story
So at the end of the day, my message is this–don’t give up on something you love just because you might have to tweak the clothes. However, just look to tweak the clothes–not yourself–because you deserve to look and feel great in everything in your closet!
