I scream that with no shame. I love autumn. It’s my birthday season, it’s Halloween time, and we’ve only got three months of this, so I say let’s take advantage of the best season while we can. Here are a five simple updates you can make right now that will (somewhat quietly) welcome the new season to your home and routine.
Something about a new candle screams autumnal to me. The days getting darker earlier and a little low glow in my livingroom is a fall setting I absolutely live for. I just ordered this candle from Boy Smells and I can’t wait for it to arrive. It’s named for one of the cutest spots in Austin and described as the embodiment of ease and sophistication. Ooo la la. (Bonus! Boy Smells is offering 20% off this weekend with the code matchbox20 so hop to it.)
It’s not hibernation time quite yet, so I’m so excited to host a little fall party at my place to celebrate the new season. I’m trying to decide… PSLs and Practical Magic or a Friday the 13th Dinner Party? Either sound so fun. I would do both if I’d trust myself to stick to it!
Pumpkin Spice Make-Up
Of course, I’m drinking PSLs like it’s my job, of course I am. I’m also bringing this spicy pallet into my makeup with some lip colors that are spice inspired. Think rust and brown tones like in these NARs pencils here. This way a little fall finds its way into my everyday, too.
The Tiny Pumpkin
Living in a city, it’s a little difficult to do the full-on porch full of pumpkins. BUT! Make way for tiny pumpkins! Pick up one, two (or more) of these little cuties and sprinkle them amongst your decor. Trader Joe’s always has a great selection, and there’s no heavy lifting these suckers back home. These little friends will be great reminders of the season and make your apartment feel ready for fall.
A New Book
Maybe somewhere deep down I miss that back-to-school-new-books feeling. I try to rekindle that feeling by starting a new book with the new season. Right now, I’m waiting on Celeste Ng’s novel Little Fires Everywhere to come out on September 12. It deals in suburban drama/mystery/and revealing secrets, which sounds a lot like Big Little Lies to me, so I am sold.
What are some small tweaks you make for the new season?
I’d love to know. Until then I’ll just be sippin’ away on my PSLs!
